UP TO THIS POINT
As most of you probably already know, we have been trying to expand our family since 1998. After a number of surgeries, and 3 failed attempts at IVF, we were emotionally, physically & financially drained. We decided, for both our sakes, to close the door on that chapter. However, they say when one door closes, another is opened . . . it opened the door to adoption.
After much research, we decided to go forward with International adoption. After thoroughly investigating agencies, we chose to use Florida Home Studies & Adoption. The beginning of July '05' we attended an adoption seminar hosted by the agency. After learning about all the different programs available, our hearts were drawn toward Taiwan.
The intense "paper chase" has begun! It is unbelievable how many forms, leagal/medical, financial, references, certified copies, etc. we needed to gather, track down & request. We had to have a Home Study completed, extensive background check, fingerprinting in Tampa at the US Citizenship & Immigration Services, Passports, etc. It all seems very overwhelming, however we seemed to get through it in good time.
The program we are participating in, the birth mothers participates in the selection of the forever family. We had to compile a photo book of our life along with a letter to the birth mother. The orphanage our agency uses is Cathwel, located in Taipei, Taiwan. All our information was sent and accepted as of September 4, 2005. Now we wait, and wait, and wait, and wait, and wait(learning patience) for the referral of our daughter.
The waiting isn't getting any easier . . . it is sooooooooo hard. We have to be getting closer, we have 7 (long)months behind us, so hopefully April will bring us some good news???!!
To be continued...........

How blessed this little girl will be to become part of this wonderful family!!!
Glad I found your blog. Hang in there...it will happen! We used FHSA also and traveled in November to pick up our daughters. Praying for you during this time of waiting...
What a great blog. Aunt Irene sent us the link...and we look forward to cheering you both on as you journey into parenthood. Our oldest boy, Justin, will be 20 this month. Our second and youngest, Jordan, will be 17 in September. You have sooo very much to look forward to! Kids make a great life even BETTER! Best of luck and we'll be praying!
Hopefully any minute now you will be able to post about your dear child. I understand how you long to have your child we ttc for 4 years and IVF was our next step. We weren't sure if my mental stability would have survived failed IVF, not to mention our financial stability..that's why we decided to adopt instead of try IVF. So now we're in the waiting game too.
Good Luck!!!
Dear Lori and Aaron, I read your blog often, I know how anxious you are along with your parents. Soon, you will be parents! Love, Appie
